SCHOLARSHIPS
At UW-Whitewater, we are focused on helping you make college affordable. Offering the best overall value in the UW System is a great place to start. Whether you’re new to the Warhawk family or you’re an established student — we offer hundreds of scholarships to help fund your education. The information on this site is valid for Fall 2026.
UW-Whitewater scholarships and tuition remissions distinguish between new freshman students, first-year students, and transfer students. A new freshman is a first-time college student entering directly from high school, while a first-year student is anyone in their first year at the university, including transfer students. Transfer students are joining UW-Whitewater with higher education credits earned at another institution completed after high school graduation. Scholarships listed below are unavailable for international students.

Scholarships for new freshman students
Your admissions application allows you to be considered for many scholarships, including several you will automatically be considered for that are based on your GPA.
Merit-Based Scholarships
New freshmen who have been admitted to UW-Whitewater by our Jan. 1 priority deadline during their senior year are automatically considered for academic scholarships based on merit. Scholarships are competitive and are awarded through a pooled process that is equitable to all students. Students participating in Direct Admit Wisconsin must also submit their Direct Admit form prior to the Jan. 1 deadline. For the fall 2026 semester, students with the best academic credentials based on unweighted GPA will be considered to receive merit aid.
Chancellor’s Scholarship
The Chancellor’s Scholarship is a competitive, four-year renewable scholarship for $2,000 per year, totaling $8,000. Chancellor’s Scholars enjoy benefits such as admission to the University Honors Program and additional consideration on housing preferences.
King/Chávez Scholars Program
The King/Chávez Scholars program reflects UW-Whitewater’s commitment to upholding the ideals and expectations of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chávez. King/Chávez Scholars are awarded a merit-based scholarship package totaling approximately $5,000. Additionally, scholars are provided opportunities to participate in undergraduate research, high-impact practices, and a summer transition program.
Qualified applicants should have a GPA of 3.00 or higher. Special consideration is given to first-generation college students and those who have significant financial need.

About 18% of UW-Whitewater students come from outside of Wisconsin. If you are one of them, this information will help you understand the scholarship and tuition reduction opportunities available to you.
For more information about which nonresident scholarship, or tuition rate, you may be eligible to receive, contact the UW-Whitewater Office of Admissions by email at uwwadmit@uww.edu or by calling 262-472-1440.

Scholarships for current UW-Whitewater students
UW-Whitewater students are eligible to apply for hundreds of scholarships — worth more than $2.7 million — each year through the UW-Whitewater Foundation or through their college or major. Returning student scholarships are often made possible by the donations of generous alumni who want to give back to current Warhawks.
Applications for the majority of scholarships will be accepted until Feb. 22, 2026. Please carefully review each scholarship for additional information on opening and closing dates. These applications will be used to award scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year.
