Recent graduate transition tips
Graduation is a monumental occasion that should be celebrated, and we hope you do. When the dust settles, consider addressing the following items as you get ready for the next step in your journey.
Consider donating to the Warhawks Give Fund
Your UWW student email account will remain active for approximately six months after you graduate and then will be deleted. We recommend migrating to a new personal account through a free email provider like Gmail or Yahoo as well as taking the following steps:
- Export your emails to your personal email account
- Export your contact list from Outlook
- Update all your accounts that use your UWW email, like Amazon or other subscription services
- Set an auto reply so your contacts know you’ll no longer be using your UWW email account
- Transfer files from your Google Drive and Adobe Creative Cloud accounts

Lifelong learning
The Return to Wisconsin program was designed to encourage alumni to help keep UW-Whitewater in the family. Available at only a handful of UW campuses, Return to Wisconsin offers non-residents a 25% discount on out-of-state tuition, provided a parent, guardian, or grandparent had previously graduated from UW-Whitewater.
To qualify, be sure to check the box on the application that asks if any of these family members graduated from the institution to which you are applying (meaning did they graduate from UW-Whitewater). We'll follow-up with some paperwork to ask to who it is you are referencing, check with the registrar's office to confirm a degree was posted to the individual you identified, then...you're done! We'll assign a code to your file that will automatically recalculate your tuition charges each semester to include the 25% discount. Touted more like a "legacy" program, it is important to mention that Return to Wisconsin is not a program that impacts an admission decision. It serves only as a method of incentive that impacts tuition charges only. The UW-Whitewater Class Audit program allows alumni and community members to attend a wide selection of UW-Whitewater courses on a not-for-credit basis. Participation in the audit program is a great way to enhance your professional skills and pursue a commitment to lifelong learning.
General cost of a class audit
- Wisconsin residents only pay 30% of the normal per credit academic fee plus any special class or lab fees.
- Non-residents pay 50% of the normal per credit academic fee plus any special class or lab fees.
- Wisconsin residents who are receiving federal OASDI, SSI or SSDI disability insurance benefits or those Wisconsin residents who are at least 60 years of age at the start of class may audit courses without charge except for payment of special class or lab fees.

Affinity groups are a group of individuals who share an enduring connection to UWW — a sports team, year of graduation, academic program, or geographic location. These groups celebrate the collective stories of their members and strengthen their ties to UW-Whitewater.
We want to meet you! UW-Whitewater students, faculty, and staff are part of alum-centered social events throughout the nation each year.
Would you like to make a difference for a current student? Share your education, career journey, and lessons with students, and coach them through their journey with our Alumni Mentor Program.
Engage with students in a classroom or in a student organization. Be a guest speaker either in person or remotely. Contact alumni@uww.edu to start a conversation about giving back with your talent.
Gifts of all sizes significantly impact student success. The UW-Whitewater Foundation provides various ways to contribute, including monthly recurring gifts.
Do you know a student exploring college options? Encourage them to explore our programs with a campus visit. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn and share our news with your networks.
Looking for a way to connect with UW-Whitewater alumni in your area? Coordinate a Warhawk Service Event. It is a great way to meet fellow alumni and work together for a great cause.
In November 2018, 24 alumni from the Twin Cities, with grad years ranging from 1963 to 2015, came together for our inaugural service event. They volunteered their time at Feed My Starving Children and in two hours helped to pack 104 boxes resulting in 39,936 meals which will feed 109 kids for a year. Afterwards, half the group went out for lunch at a nearby restaurant. This provided time for fellowship, serving as a great opportunity for the alumni to connect with one another and to talk about their UW-Whitewater experiences.
"I deem the event a solid success. This group will do it again!" said Sally Bean '81, MBA '86, alumna event host. "Thanks for partnering on a great alumni event in the Twin Cities!!"
