Intergenerational Technology Services (IGeTS)
The Intergenerational Technology and Education Services (IGeTS) program connects UW–Whitewater with older adults and adults with disabilities to provide free, one-on-one technology support and training. Through meaningful intergenerational relationships, students help participants build digital skills and confidence that promote health, well-being, independence, and social connectedness.
IGeTS is a mobile, community-based program, meaning students travel to designated community locations throughout Walworth, Rock, and Jefferson counties to provide personalized technology assistance where participants live and gather. Whether learning to use a smartphone, tablet, computer, email, telehealth services, video calling, or other digital tools, participants receive individualized support tailored to their goals and needs.
By combining technology education with community engagement, IGeTS bridges the digital divide while creating valuable learning experiences for both participants and university students. Together, they build skills, foster connections, and strengthen communities one connection at a time.
Technology support is coming to your community! Beginning in September 2026, IGeTS will provide free, one-on-one technology support for adults age 50 and older and adults age 18 and older with disabilities at five community locations. Services start in September 2026.
