SUMMER JOBS

With approximately 20,000 visitors to campus annually between May and August, summer at UW-Whitewater is vibrant and dynamic. Youth camps and conferences take place in campus facilities almost daily, and prospective students and their families occupy academic buildings, outdoor spaces, and other areas for orientation and registration, Warhawk Preview Days, and campus tours. Special events like the Special Olympics State Summer Games and Drum Corps International Whitewater Classic bring their own unique energy to the campus and community. Students who work summer jobs, or seasonal jobs, are essential to making sure all visitors enjoy their Warhawk experience.

Summer jobs for college students

The Camp and Project Specialist position requires regularly scheduled responsibilities throughout summer months during the work day and evenings which require availability and accessibility to participants in camps and conferences on weekdays and assigned weekends. Situations and circumstances arise that will require staff to perform other duties as assigned.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending and participating fully in training sessions, weekly staff meetings, one-to-ones, and other assigned meetings.
  • Serving in overnight duty rotation, including campus-wide duty rounds, for summer hall, camps, and conferences.
  • Providing excellent customer service in completing administrative procedures for summer hall, camps, and conferences — including check-in, check-out, transitions between camps, incident reports, key checks, linen procedures, and more — as required.
  • Investigating and reporting room and common area damage.
  • Completing various summer projects and administrative duties as assigned by University Housing.

Due to the nature of the Camp and Project Specialist position, it is not recommended that a Camp and Project Specialist hold another outside job.

You may have other employment outside of UWW, if approved by University Housing. Hours scheduled for the CPS position must take priority over outside jobs.

You may not work for another UW-Whitewater department concurrently — this may put you in overtime pay status, which is not permitted.
