Project Management

The online Project Management graduate certificate is designed to allow professionals with a bachelor's degree to acquire knowledge, experience, and a solid foundation for managing projects.  These courses are based on the text, A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (PMBOK ® Guide), and demonstrate practical lessons in project management that are illustrated through theory, cases, and practice.

As a Project Management Institute (PMI®) Registered Education Provider (REP), UW-Whitewater has agreed to abide by PMI-established quality assurance criteria. Project Management graduate courses count toward the 35-hour education requirements for earning PMI's Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential and the 23 education hours for PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) certification. For students that already hold PMP certification, our classes count toward the professional development units (PDUs) required to maintain the certification.

Note:  Students in the Project Management graduate certificate program may enroll in the Master of Business Administration at UW-Whitewater if they meet the normal criteria for that program. Certificate courses that are part of the MBA program can count toward completion of that degree at a later date.

Students that complete the Project Management graduate certificate program will be knowledgeable in the following areas:

  • The genesis of project management and its importance to improving project success
  • The project management process groups and knowledge areas
  • Team-building and collaboration
