Marketing Strategy

Organizations are competing in a global business environment shaped by rapid innovation. The online Marketing Strategy graduate certificate will prepare students to manage marketing strategy and understand how it fits within a comprehensive marketing plan. Students will also learn to assess market opportunities worldwide, address challenges specific to new businesses or new product launches, and analyze promotion and branding decisions in entrepreneurial and global contexts.

Note: Students in the graduate certificate in Marketing Strategy may enroll in the Master of Business Administration at UW-Whitewater if they meet the normal criteria for that program. Certificate courses that are part of the MBA program may count toward completion of that degree at a later date.

Individuals that complete the Marketing Strategy graduate certificate will be knowledgeable in the following areas:

  • Strategic decisions within a comprehensive marketing plan
  • Marketing decision-making in an international setting, including an assessment of global market opportunities
  • Marketing strategies to address challenges associated with new businesses and/or new product launches
  • Promotion and branding decisions in different contexts

Certificate Requirements:

Students must complete the four courses below (11 credits), which are all offered online. For course lists and descriptions, visit the Graduate Catalog.

  • MARKETNG 747: Marketing Strategy (2 credits)
  • MARKETNG 761: International Marketing (3 credits)
  • MARKETNG 767: Entrepreneurial Marketing Strategy (3 credits)
  • MARKETNG 770: Brand Management (3 credits)

Students must also complete one course (3 credits) from the classes below, which are all offered online. 

  • MARKETNG 751: Consumer Insight and Customer Experience (3 credits)
  • MARKETNG 772: Digital Marketing (3 credits)
  • MARKETNG 777: Artificial Intelligence in Marketing

Admission Requirements:

No GMAT required.

To qualify for admission to the certificate program in good standing, you must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited institution with an overall grade point average (G.P.A.) of 2.75 or above.
