Wellness Services

The UWW- Wellness program provides free programs and resources for students, faculty, and staff. We often visit classrooms, residence halls, and organization meetings. You can choose from our list or request a custom program by clicking the link below or contact wellness@uww.edu.

Eight Dimensions of Wellness

Wellness combines eight dimensions of well-being into a quality way of living. Being well goes beyond just physical activity and nutrition. Wellness at UW-Whitewater encompasses all aspects of living life to the fullest. By balancing these dimensions, you can improve your overall quality of life.

Social Wellness
Social wellness is having positive interactions and enjoying being with others. Social well-being is enhanced by establishing supportive social networks through meaningful relationships with family, friends and colleagues.
Social wellness ideas at UWW:

  • Attend Warhawk athletic events
  • Join a student organization
  • Volunteer in community events
  • Attend events in the UC or a residence hall

Physical Wellness
A healthy body maintained by good nutrition, regular exercise, avoiding harmful habits, making informed and responsible decisions about health, and seeking medical assistance when necessary.
Physical wellness ideas at UWW:

  • Join an intramural sports team
  • Exercise at the Williams Center
  • Visit Health Services for illness or injury
  • Meet with the campus dietician 

Emotional Wellness
Emotional wellness is having a positive attitude, high self-esteem, a strong sense of self and the ability to recognize and share a wide range of feelings with others in a constructive way. It also involves being attentive to your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, whether positive or negative.
Emotional wellness ideas at UWW:

  • Visit UHCS for free counseling
  • Reserve a time in our Relaxation Room
  • Practice daily gratitude
  • Try journaling or drawing


Spiritual Wellness
Spiritual wellness is a set of guiding beliefs, principles or values that give meaning and purpose to your life. It involves the capacity for love, compassion, forgiveness, altruism, and fulfillment. Spiritual wellness does not have to adhere to any particular religion and many people can find meaning and purpose in their lives on their own.
Spiritual wellness ideas at UWW:

  • Spend time alone and/or practice meditation
  • Join faith-based organizations
  • Enjoy the peacefulness of the campus prarie trails 

Environmental Wellness
Environmental wellness requires clean air, pure water, quality food, adequate shelter, satisfactory work conditions, personal safety and healthy relationships. Striving to be environmentally well improves the standard of living and quality of health in our environment.
Environmental wellness ideas at UWW:

  • Join a student organization like S.A.G.E
  • Participate in Earth Week
  • Help out in the campus garden
  • Recycle and repurpose 

Occupational Wellness:
Occupational wellness includes the ability to balance work and leisure time. Success with your choice of profession, career ambitions and personal performance are important components in seeking occupational wellness.

  • Visit Career Services to create a resume and cover letter
  • Apply for a campus job to boost your resume
  • Gain an internship in your field of study  

Intellectual Wellness
Intellectual wellness is life-long learning through educational and life experiences. This allows the capacity to think critically, be open to new ideas and motives to master new skills.
Intellectual wellness ideas at UWW:

  • Attend campus events like the Diversity Forum or Wellness Fair
  • Study abroad
  • Visit the Roberta A. Fiskum  Art Gallery
  • See a show at the Young Auditorium

Financial Wellness
Financial wellness is being able to fully meet current and ongoing financial obligations, feeling secure in one's financial future, and the ability to make choices that allow enjoyment of life.
Financial wellness ideas at UWW:

  • Meet with staff from the campus Financial Literacy Center to develop a budget
  • Start a savings account at your bank
  • Establish a line of credit to start building a credit score
