Management jobs are plentiful and growing rapidly. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts there will be 1.2 million management job openings each year of the next decade. The annual salary for managers is $116,880, much higher than the annual salary for all occupations of $48,060.

Sports management is essentially the business aspect of athletic and recreational organizations — and there’s a wide range of opportunities: management, event coordination, ticketing, marketing, public/community relations, operations and more. Our Annual Business Ethics Week brings together business and industry experts to discuss topics related to business ethics, social justice, the environment, and innovation.
Of special interest to nonprofit management majors is our Annual Nonprofit Week. This event allows management students to connect with nonprofit researchers, as well as nonprofit professionals who work in arts management, health and human services and financial accounting.

With 20 NCAA Division III athletics teams and a LOT of school spirit, UW-Whitewater is an excellent place to prepare for a sports management career. We are also home to a variety of recreational groups and club and intramural sports, including basketball, bowling, cycling, fencing, tennis, weightlifting, wheelchair basketball and ultimate Frisbee.

Our Faculty

With courses covering international leadership, sustainability and organizational development, our program prepares students to become global, culturally sensitive and socially responsible professionals.
