50 Years of Women's and Gender Studies at UWW: From Challenging Androcentrism to Intersectional Advocacy
This talk will explore the history and current state of Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Starting with our first class taught in 1972, Women's and Gender Studies has pushed for the inclusion of women's voices in academic curriculum for more than 50 years at UWW. Currently, our students experience an education rooted in intersectionality, developing key skill sets for a more inclusive future and opportunities to learn about women of color, LGBTQ+ communities, and inclusive advocacy skills to shape their communities and future workplaces.
