Therapeutic Style
I work from primarily an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model, while also integrating methods from other types of therapy to best suit the client's individual needs. I first focus on working collaboratively with each client to fully hear out what they've been struggling with and get to know them. Then, I typically teach concrete skills in sessions that are designed to help the client cope with life’s stressors, relax more easily, and interrupt the spirals of negative thoughts that we tend to get caught up in. Clients will also be asked to take these skills home for practice between sessions, and clients who engage in practice outside the therapy room tend to have the best outcomes. Therapy with me will be quite active and experiential, with in-session skills practice and (achievable) at home practice.
