Disabled Parking
Use of accessible parking spaces is restricted to vehicles with DIS (disabled) plates, DIS VET plates, or an ID card issued by the Wisconsin (or other state) Department of Transportation. A paid UW-W permit is also required on vehicles parking on campus in accessible spaces.
Wisconsin statutes that exempt vehicles from paying meter fees apply to municipalities and are not applicable on the UW-Whitewater campus.
On the UW-Whitewater campus, vehicles with DIS plates or an ID card along with a valid UW-Whitewater parking permit may be parked in disabled parking spaces, any non-restricted space, or up to 4 hours at any pay-by-space (AMP) parking stall with no fee required.
Students living in a University residence hall will be able to purchase an accessible resident parking permit by contacting Parking Services via email and sending a copy of the DMV documentation for an accessible license plate or hanging placard registered to the student. The pricing of accessible resident permits matches that of standard resident permits and follows the same proration and refund schedule. Information regarding refunds and prorations can be found here.
Temporary disabled parking permits may be issued to persons with a physician's statement for short-term needs, not to exceed 30 days. The cost of a temporary disabled parking permit is $20 per week, unless another valid UW-Whitewater permit is currently held, in which case there is no additional cost.
