Computing Service Guidelines

What is expected of ResNET users:

  • Students provide their own working computer for use in their room that conforms to the minimum hardware specifications.
  • Students will register necessary devices to mydevices.uww.edu when needing to connect to wired internet or if it is a gaming system or TV/multimedia device. Instructions are available at the IT Services KnowledgeBase.

What we offer:
We will provide means to connect to the internet (equipment not included). Wireless network connectivity is available throughout the Residence Halls. Wired network jacks are available for use in rooms. Some rooms have wall-based wireless access points that can also be used as hardware jacks (located on the bottom of the access point). Rooms without wall-based acces points have data jacks available for activation, one per student, upon request through the Housing Portal.

For ResNET policies see the ResNET Acceptable Use Policy.

What we will try to do:

  • We will help students access university email, all university systems, like Canvas and WINS, reset passwords, connect to eduroam Wi-Fi, troublehoot Duo, and Duo.
  • We will assist students in resolving network connectivity issues.
  • We will notify and assist you in resolving the any issues with compromised accounts or computers.
