CENTER FOR ETHICAL AI INTEGRATION
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater launched the Center for Ethical AI Integration in 2025 to support faculty, staff, students, and community partners in navigating artificial intelligence in the fields of research, academics, and societal impacts.
Leadership and Advisory Board

The Advisory Board consists of the UW-Whitewater AI Liaison Team, which includes:

Services and projects
The center reviews and accepts a variety of different projects that impact areas such as research, academic excellence, community improvement, and strategic partnerships. Below are examples of services the Center for Ethical AI Integration can provide to faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders depending on project scope and fit with the center's goals.
Collaboration and support with research relating to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI
Review and consultation on the proposed usage and/or purchase of emerging AI platforms for teaching, learning, and research
Conducting pilot projects for AI tools and platforms that positively impact learning outcomes and improve campus workflows
Developing department, college, university, and organizational policies in partnership with relevant stakeholders in AI-related initiatives
Providing workshops and professional development on ethical AI implementation in courses, departments, and research
Below are a few projects that the center has either supported or led on campus. While not an exhaustive list, it provides context for the services and consultation offered.
- Consulted with Edgerton School District and Whitewater Unified School District related to AI policies and adoption
- Coordinated Pilot for VisibleAI, a transparent writing assessment tool with embedded AI tools, in collaboration with campus partners
- Developed initial Chat GPT EDU campus rollout for license distribution and data collection
- Provided feedback and support for research and grant projects around Gemini, Claude, and Chat GPT API use and GPTs required additional data security protocols
- Designed experiences and training for EngageXR, a virtual simulator that uses AI avatars to provide authentic career preparation scenarios
