    What is it?

    • The Accommodation Request Portal (ARP) is an online accommodation management system for students receiving services through the Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD).  Students use the Portal to notify instructors of accommodations, set up testing accommodations, and request notetakers and access the notes.
    • Instructors can now use the Portal to view student accommodations, complete Testing Contracts. view testing requests and upload exams, and notetaker pairings and uploaded notes!

    What's my part?

    • Accommodation notifications
      • Students initiate the process each semester by going into the their Accommodation Request Portal (ARP) and requesting the accommodations they need in each of their classes.
      • You will receive an email from our system on behalf of any student requesting accommodations in your course. The email includes information regarding the accommodations requested, such as extra time on tests or notetakers.  This information is also viewable on the Faculty Portal.
      • Please note that even if the notification has the notetaker accommodation listed, you are not responsible for finding a notetaker until you receive the "Notetaker Needed" email.
    • Alternative testing
      • We recommend that students meet with their instructors to discuss their accommodation needs in class. If a student receives testing accommodations, you should discuss where and when the student will take the exams and quizzes, any technology needed or materials allowed, and anything else relevant to the proctoring of the assessment.
      • The instructor, NOT STUDENT, completes the Alternative Testing Contract in ARP.  You can find the link to the Testing contract in your Accommodation Notification email or directly in your Faculty Portal.
      • Instructors MUST complete the Testing Contract BEFORE a student can take an exam or quiz at CSD.
      • Students can complete a Request to take an exam in CSD, but if there is no contract,  you will receive an email prompting you to complete one.  You will also receive an email when the Request has been approved, and when the Request is modified (for example, the date or time is changed).  Please be sure to reach out to CSD if you have any questions about the information on a request.
      • You can also view both current and past Requests through the Faculty Portal, and upload exams and copy contracts to multiple students at once.
        • NOTE: Students may submit Requests for all of their exams at once, meaning you will receive a flurry of Request emails concerning each exam of the semester.  When submitting your tests, you can use the direct link in your Faculty Portal instead of locating specific links in old emails.
    • Notetaker requests
      • When a student has confirmed that they need a notetaker in your course, you will receive an email asking you to make an announcement to the class requesting a notetaker.  When a student volunteers, please check their notes for completeness; we also encourage the student(s) receiving the notes to check the notes for legibility and usability.  The notetaker then registers on the Accommodation Request Portal and uploads their notes to the Portal to make them available to the student(s).  Faculty are able to view notetaker pairings and any uploaded notes through the Faculty Portal.
