This event has concluded or in progress.  Conctact cushingj@uww.edu to be notified of future events.

Have you discovered the power of identity work to unlock students' language and grow their confidence? Do you want to use more identity work with your multilingual / heritage language learners, but not sure where to start? Are you looking for creative ways to incorporate identity work units that are arts-based and rich in multimodal literacies?

Join us for this interactive workshop, where we will - explore the possibilities identity work offer for our multilingual / heritage language learners - experience making and sharing different kinds of identity texts - create and share identity work units and get feedback on how they worked with students - come away with free access to all the units created by the members of the group Identity exploration and expression are foundational to a reparational approach to heritage language instruction.

This course will focus on the integration of identity texts into heritage language curricula. Participants will collaborate with other teachers to design an identity text unit for heritage language learners, practice with each other and students, and share final units to be used in each other's classrooms.

Facilitated by J. Eik Diggs (M.Ed., PhD Candidate, and veteran multilingual / heritage language teacher)

All sessions are virtual, and will be highly interactive. Please be prepared to access shared docs, and have access to microphone and camera.
