The State of Women Representation in Business: Challenges, Equity, and Pathways to Progress
February 24, 2025
Rashiqa Kamal, Professor, Finance
Women have made significant strides in the business world, yet they remain underrepresented in leadership roles, decision-making positions, and entrepreneurial ventures. This lecture explores the current landscape of women in business, examining the systemic and cultural challenges they face, including gender bias, unequal pay, limited access to mentorship, and work-life balance pressures. These challenges underscore the importance of creating a diverse and innovative business environment, where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive. These challenges can be overcome through actionable strategies for fostering gender equity, such as implementing inclusive policies, supporting mentorship programs, and advocating for cultural shifts in organizational structures.
Lectures will be held on Mondays at 3 p.m. in the Olm Fellowship Hall of Fairhaven Senior Services, 435 West Starin Road, Whitewater. They are open to the public and registration is not required. Lectures may be recorded and posted to our Fairhaven Lecture website and YouTube channel. Videos of lectures in this series and in past series can be accessed for free any time after they are posted online.
