The 2025 UW-Whitewater Jazz Festival will give Middle School and High School bands the opportunity to receive written comments and a clinic from our clinicians. Middle School Bands will have 30 minutes to perform and High School Bands will have 60 minutes to perform, and both will receive written comments and a 15 minute clinic with our clinicians following their performance. High School performances will be held in Young Hall, and Middle School performances will be held in Light Recital Hall. This year’s clinician is Pat Harbison, Professor Emeritus of Jazz Studies at Indiana University, where he taught from 1997-2023. He currently serves as Clinical Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana), and Steve Sveum, former Director of Bands at Sun Prairie High School and Essentially Ellington Clinician.
Each band will warm up during the hour preceding their performance time. All bands are encouraged to stay and hear the other ensembles, the evening UW-Whitewater Jazz Ensemble and The Lynne Arriale Trio featuring John Chritiansen, bass, and Mitch Shiner, drums.
