Major Gifts Officer, Athletics Liaison and College of Arts and Communication Liaison
Kiefer M. Sullivan.
Kiefer Sullivan, an undergraduate and graduate student of UW-Whitewater, joins the Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement team after several years working for Warhawk Athletics.
Originally from Madison, WI, Kiefer transferred from UW-Stout to UW-Whitewater in the fall of 2007. “Having family come through Whitewater and hear of their experiences here made it a no-brainer to transfer. The bowling piece helped too.” Along with Kiefer’s academic interest in transferring to Whitewater to focus on a journalism degree, he had dreams of bowling collegiately. “I knew UW-Whitewater was going to be a great fit for both academic and non-academic reasons. I just had no idea how perfect.” Within the first week of being on campus at UWW, Kiefer made the roster to a nationally ranked collegiate bowling team, met his future wife and became Vice President, later President, of the Men’s Bowling Club. “Like many others, it didn’t take long for me to feel right at home here at UW-Whitewater” adds Kiefer.
After graduating with a B.A. in journalism in 2011, Kiefer eventually went to the University of New Hampshire as a Graduate Assistant of the institution's Campus Recreation department and earned an M.S. in recreation management and policy. In 2015, he moved back to Whitewater and spent time working both in the community and on campus with Warhawk Athletics. “I have learned and grown so much during my time within this great community. Having the opportunity to be in this role and give back not only to the university but a department I have worked and cared so much for (Athletics) as well as the college of my undergraduate and graduate experience (Arts & Communication) is a continuation of the perfect fit UW-Whitewater has always been for me. I am so excited to hear all the stories and reasons why others love UW-Whitewater as much as I do.”
Kiefer lives in Whitewater with his wife, Leann Sullivan ’10, MSE ‘15, who is UW-Whitewater Women’s Bowling Head Coach as well as the Warhawk Alley Coordinator within the University Center. They have a five-year-old, Preston, and spend their time as a family doing all things sports-related, with bowling usually at the center of it all.
