For fall 2022, colleges and departments are offering First-Year Interest Group opportunities for new freshmen. If you are interested in learning more or participating in a First-Year Interest Group, please contact us at fig@uww.edu.

College of Arts and Communication |
The College of Arts & Communication is offering one first-year interest group for fall 2022 (Wired In). Students will enroll in linked courses, including New Student Seminar (INTRAUNV 104) and MAGD 210 (Visual Design for Digital Media) in a cohort of 22 students.
The group will be led by a faculty member in the College of Arts & Communication. |
College of Business and Economics |
The College of Business & Economics is offering four first-year interest groups for fall 2022 (Everybody’s Business, Business & Me, The Innovators, & Financial Futures).
Students will enroll in linked courses, including New Student Seminar (INTRAUNV 104) and BEINDP 101 (Business & Society) in cohorts of 22 students.
Each group will be led by a faculty or staff member in the College of Business & Economics. |
College of Education and Professional Studies |
The College of Education & Professional Studies is offering two first-year interest groups for fall 2022 (Live&Learn & Future Teacher Program).
Students will live in Knilans Hall and enroll in linked courses, including Special Education 205 (Introduction to Special Education) and New Student Seminar (INTRAUNV 104) in cohorts of 22 students.
Each group will be led by a faculty or staff member in the College of Education and Professional Studies. |
College of Letters and Sciences |
The College of Letters & Sciences is offering three first-year interest groups for fall 2022 (Get Psyched!, Legal Eagles, and Thinking in Code).
Students will enroll in linked courses, including New Student Seminar (INTRAUNV 104) and CORE 130 (Individual & Society) for Get Psyched!, Political Science 240 (Law & Society) for Legal Eagles, & CORE 140 (Global Perspectives) for Thinking in Code in cohorts of 22 students.
Each group will be led by a faculty or staff member in the College of Letters and Sciences. |
Undecided Majors |
We are offering one first-year interest group for students who are not ready to commit to a major and want to keep their options open while getting to know the various majors and programs at UW-Whitewater (Career Explorers). Students will enroll in linked courses, including New Student Seminar (INTRAUNV 104) and CORE 140 (Global Perspectives) in a cohort of 22 students. This group will be led by a staff member in the College of Letters & Sciences. |
King/Chávez Scholars (by invitation only)

The King/Chávez Scholars program is offering one first-year interest group for fall 2022.
Students must be invited to participate in this first-year interest group. Students will live in Wells West and will enroll in linked courses, including CORE 120 (Historical Perspectives), POLISCI 217 (American Minority Politics), and New Student Seminar (INTRAUNV 104).

Each group will be led by a head or assistant coach. |
University Honors Program (by invitation only)

The University Honors program is offering one first-year interest group for fall 2022.
Students must be invited to participate in this first-year interest group. Students will live in Arey Hall and enroll in linked courses, including CORE 130H (Individual & Society Honors), English 105 (Freshman English Honors), and New Student Seminar Honors (INTRAUNV 104HX) in a cohort of 26 students.
