Assistant Men's and Women's Soccer Coach / Kinesiology Lecturer - 21849
ATTENTION:
The Departments of Intercollegiate Athletics and Kinesiology are seeking an Assistant Men's and Women's Soccer Coach (Assistant Coach, CC003) and a Lecturer (TL020). This position will be split as 48% Assistant Coach and 52% as a Lecturer in Kinesiology. The Assistant Coach portion of the position will be a 12-month position, the Lecturer portion of position will be a 9-month position.
This position reports to the Head Coach and the Kinesiology Department Chair. The selected candidate will maintain a good working relationship with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, Kinesiology Department Chair, Athletics Trainers, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Athletics Department Support Staff and other Department and University Staff.

The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2025 for the Assistant Coaching portion and August 25, 2025 for the Lecturer portion.
JOB DETAILS:
Under direction from the Head Coaches, the Assistant Coach is responsible for overseeing specific aspects of the sports program including, but not limited to, scheduling, planning and execution of practice and games, opponent scouts / film breakdown, on- and off-campus recruiting, fundraising events, marketing and overseeing Overnight and ID Camps, maintaining compliance, organizing team travel, and various administrative duties.
The selected candidate must be attentive to detail; keep accurate records; and possess an ability to work with a diverse constituency, including but not limited to students, parents, coaches, faculty, staff, administrators, prospective students, and other outside contacts.
This position represents and promotes professional conduct, university goodwill and high standards at all events and matches and may assist in coaching at competitive events.
The Assistant Coach assumes head coach responsibilities, as needed. The Assistant Coach reports directly to the Head Coaches for both Men's and Women's Soccer.
A criminal background check and driving record check will be conducted for qualified candidates.
Violation of University, NCAA or Conference rules on the part of Athletic Department personnel may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
The work schedule often includes days, nights, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and travel.
The Assistant Coach will teach undergraduate courses supporting the Physical Education Teacher Education program, the Athletic Coaching Education minor, and/or the Human Performance major. The Assistant Coach may supervise student field study and/or student teaching placements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with athletic participants, staff, and parents of student athletes
- Current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the affiliated athletic conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as well as other associations and agencies to which the campus adheres, and at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards
- Knowledge in the sport of soccer, as well as basic technical expertise in coaching principles
- Leadership skills to mentor and develop student-athletes, assistant coaching or program instruction staff and skills in effective assistant coaching
- Proven ability to teach soccer to individuals and the team as a whole, personal experience with soccer
- Superior organizational skills required in order to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills, verbal / written / social media vital to dealing with our players and staff, as well as within the larger department, with alumni, and recruits and their families
- Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making and be an effective problem solver
Preferred Qualifications:
- Applied knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and basic computer skills
- Working knowledge of Hudl and Recruitment Software
- Goalkeeper Training Experience
- Experience teaching college level coursework
- Experience teaching Physical Education or Health Education in a K-12 Setting

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coaching
- Under the guidance of the Head Coaches, analyzes performance and instructs participants in program strategies and techniques to prepare them for competition
- Observes players while they perform to determine the need for individual or team improvement and participates in student athlete performance
- Assists in practice sessions and games
- Film breakdown for scouting and player development purposes
- Assists in the recruitment of prospective athletes within the framework of the university, department, conference and current D3 bylaws and manual
- Participates in on and off campus recruiting and managing recruiting documentation
- Travels for recruiting purposes by driving university vehicles and/or personal vehicle with proof of insurance
- Maintaining player and team compliance in collaboration with our compliance department and athletic training staff
- Planning team travel including buses, meals, hotels, community service, and additional team activities
- Various administrative duties to maintain an efficient and compliant workplace
- Participates in and organizes fundraising activities for the program and department including camps and clinics
- Additional duties as assigned
Kinesiology Lecturer
- Teach coaching, physical education and/or human performance courses as assigned
- Work with the kinesiology faculty on course development and design
- Attend Department and Committee Meetings
- Engage in Professional Development and Service Activities
- Maintain regular weekly office hours

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary of $50,000.
