ATTENTION:
The James R. Connor University Center at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks an Assistant Director of Operations (Administrative Assistant Director, AD053).
JOB DETAILS:
The Assistant Director of Operations for the James R. Connor University Center (UC) is responsible for the strategic planning and direction of the UC Building Operation units to advance program goals and objectives of the UC. This position has administrative, budgetary, and building supervisory responsibilities for the UC, Drumlin and Esker Dining Halls. UC Building Operations units include UC Reservations, UC Operations Support (Student Building Managers, Student Setup Crew, Student Tech Crew, and Student Custodians.) Reports directly to the Director of Operations of the James R. Connor University Center.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3-4 years of operations management and budget experience.
- Experience in supervising, training and/or development.
- Excellent communication skills sufficient to express ideas, broker collaborations, and agreements concisely and ethically, orally and in writing, to a variety of constituencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in event logistics.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Experience and knowledge of the operation of audio, lighting, AV technologies.
- Info COMM Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification(s) or other similar industry certifications
- Experience with 25Live software or other related event software.

- Willingness and Ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training drills
- Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job Responsibilities:
- Engages in strategic planning and policies to ensure the strategic direction supports the needs of the UC Building Operation Branch
- Supervises UC Reservations & Events Manager and UC Operations & Events Manager
- Develops processes and procedures to improve units within UC Building Operation Branch
- Evaluates, designs, and implements operations to align with strategic direction for the UC Building Operations units:
- Manages key inventory/access and electronic lock schedules.
- Responsible for ongoing emergency training and communication with UC staff, as well as ensuring safe working and event conditions.
- Ensures that related policies, procedures, and standards are reviewed, maintained, communicated and revised as needed.
- Assists the UC Director of Operations with the establishment of annual budgets in line with the goals and priorities for all revenue and expenditures for UC Reservations and Operations units:
- Oversees the operational budgets for UC Reservations and Operations units in collaboration with unit supervisors.
- Develops long term budget planning for UC Reservations and Operation units that includes revenue generation, and billing.
- Ensures that related policy, procedures, and standards are maintained and aligned with the strategic direction of UC Building Operation units and campus
- Member of the UC Leadership team
- Serves on various campus/community committees.
- Manages the compliance of university policy and procedures, including but not limited to: service of alcohol, open fires, mall reservations, signboards, and others as directed.
- Serves as primary first contact for facilities emergencies and crises.
- This position may require the responsibility to work nights and weekends as directed.

Supervision Exercised:
Direct Supervision is exercised over the UC Reservations & Events Manager (1.0 FTE), UC Operations & Events Manager (1.0 FTE).
