Kathleen Kraulik
An active musician in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Kathleen Kraulik enjoys a multi-faceted career as a collaborative pianist, musical theatre, art song and opera coach, and choral accompanist. Critics have praised her “deft skill” at the piano and described her playing as a “masterful mirror of character and mood, [a] collaborator in every sense of the word.” (Opera News, December 2005) Kathleen has been a member of the faculty of Solo Voice Camp for over 8 years.
She was the official pianist for the Metropolitan Opera’s district and regional auditions from 2000-2010, has performed with Minnesota Opera’s educational tours, and currently works with students in Minnesota Opera’s Project Opera program. She has served as pianist and vocal coach for Project Opera, a tiered vocal training program, since its inception in 2004. In 2007 she joined the faculty of La Musica Lirica, an international summer festival in Novafeltria, Italy. For the past thirteen summers she has served there in a variety of roles: rehearsal pianist for their mainstage operas, pianist and music director for opera scenes, recital accompanist, and collaborative pianist instructor. During the summer of 2019 she performed in Rome and Orvieto as part of Operafestival di Roma, and most recently, worked with Opera Louisiane in Baton Rouge. In addition to frequent recital performances, Ms. Kraulik has played for various theater companies including the Guthrie Theater and Theatre de la Jeune Lune in Minneapolis, and American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Ms. Kraulik holds degrees from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the University of Arizona in Tucson. Post-graduate studies include a summer session at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria where she studied lieder and accompanying.
